Jeff Giunta

Jeff Giunta currently holds a Godan (5th degree black belt) and trains and teaches at the Bushido Kai Judo Club in Penfield, New York. Jeff has over 25 years of Judo and Jujitsu experience. He has medaled at numerous tournaments in shiai, including Am-Can, Pan American Masters, the U.S. Senior Nationals, and the Empire State Games. In kata he has an outstanding competition record. With his partner Heiko Rommelmann he has won the men’s overall award 17 times at the Senior Nationals. Internationally, he has represented the U.S. at 7 Pan-Am Championships (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007,2008,2018, and 2019), 8 times on the USA World Kata Championships, multiple World Master’s Championships, and the Canadian Judo Master’s Championships. Highlights from this impressive record including winning the gold medal in the 2005 World Master’s Championships for kime-no-kata. Also, in 2007 Jeff represented the Pan American Judo Union at the 1st International Kodokan Kata Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Jeff was the kata competitor of the year for the USJA and the USJF multiple times, including in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006m and 2007. In addition to teaching at Bushido Kai, Jeff has been a coaching staff member at Spirit of the Eagle International Judo Training Camp in Ohio for six years, at the Greatest Camp on Earth for the last eight years, and YMCA International Judo Camp intructor. He holds level “A” certifications in judging and instruction in each of the kata. Jeff has helped train multiple national kata champions and international competitors.
